Job Description:
Podiatry Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant
(NP/PA) Position Summary The Podiatry Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides
comprehensive clinical care for patients with disorders of the
foot, ankle, and lower extremity. This role works collaboratively
with podiatrists and interdisciplinary care teams to evaluate,
diagnose, and manage acute and chronic podiatric conditions through
medical, procedural, and preventive care. Evaluate and manage patients with foot and ankle conditions,
including musculoskeletal, dermatologic, neurologic, and vascular
disorders Diagnose and treat conditions such as plantar fasciitis,
fractures, sprains, ulcers, infections, nail disorders, and
diabetic foot complications Perform podiatric procedures consistent with training and
privileges, such as wound care, debridement, nail procedures,
injections, and splinting Assist with preoperative and postoperative care for podiatric
surgical patients Manage chronic conditions including diabetic foot disease and
peripheral neuropathy Interpret diagnostic studies including X-rays, vascular studies,
and laboratory results as applicable Provide patient education regarding foot care, injury
prevention, wound management, and postoperative instructions Coordinate care with podiatrists, primary care providers,
endocrinology, vascular surgery, wound care teams, and
rehabilitation services Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes
initiatives Supervise or collaborate with clinical staff and learners as
applicable Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional
standards Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician
Assistant program Current NP or PA certification and state licensure Eligibility for hospital credentialing and privileging DEA registration or eligibility Prior experience or training in podiatry, orthopedics, wound
care, or diabetes management preferred Strong clinical skills in lower extremity assessment and
management Knowledge of podiatric conditions, wound care, and diabetic foot
management Ability to perform office-based podiatric procedures Excellent communication and patient education skills Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care
team Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centered
care Podiatry clinics, hospital outpatient departments, wound care
centers, and inpatient settings Schedule may include clinic hours, procedural sessions, and
limited call depending on practice needs Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout clinical
environments Manual dexterity for podiatric examinations and procedures Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and
procedural care
