with Cynet Health to find a qualified NICU RN in Rapid City, South
Dakota, 57701! Job Title: Registered Nurse - NICU Profession:
Registered Nurse Specialty: NICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour
Variable Hours per Shift: 36 Guaranteed Experience: Minimum 1.5
years required License: Registered Nurse - Board of Nursing
Certifications: BLS, NRP, STABLE (preferred) Must-Have: Completion
of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing
Experience with Neonatal Resuscitation preferred Vent management,
IV starts, chest tubes, and IV medication titration Description:
The unit has 28 beds with an average census of 13-16 neonates.
Patient types include neonates of all gestational ages. This is a
Level 3 NICU. Common diagnoses include low birth weight, high
frequency ventilation, nitric oxide, total body cooling, and
feeders/growers. There is no ECMO or cardiac surgery available at
this time. The patient ratios for RNs range from 1:1 to 1:4.
Support on the unit includes a CNA with a ratio of 1:10 and a
charge nurse with a ratio of 1:25. RNs will attend deliveries in
collaboration with the charge nurse. Phlebotomy services are
provided by RNs. There is a dedicated transport team available 24/7
for transfers. Neonatologists and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners are
on staff 24/7 for coverage. Floating to other units such as PICU,
Pediatrics, Postpartum, and Newborn Nursery may occur, with
overflow to the adult constant observation unit. Weekend rotation
is not required, although travelers may work mostly weekends.
On-call duty is required only if placed on call due to low census.
Holiday expectations include working 2 of the 4 major holidays.
Time off requests must be pre-approved by management. Scrub color
