working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Rapid City,
South Dakota, 57701! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession:

Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years general
nursing experience and 1 year experience specific to PCU License:
Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have:
Travelers must live 100 miles away from any facility. Travelers
will be accepted as first-time travelers with 2 years of
experience. Description: This position is for a mixed acuity unit.
The unit handles Intermediate Care, Telemetry, and MedSurg
patients. The patient population includes direct admits, emergency
department admits, and post-cath lab patients. Common diagnoses
include myocardial infarction, NSTEMI, STEMI, congestive heart
failure, dysrhythmia management, and pacemaker malfunction. This
unit serves as a backup stroke unit and medical overflow.
Experience is required in post-cardiac/vascular care, including
post-cardiac catheterization, post-open heart surgery, post-TAVR,
EP studies, and post-pacemaker insertion. The typical patient ratio
is RN: 1:4, which can change to 1:3 depending on acuity. Skills
required include: PCU level nursing expertise. Experience in
cardiac procedural recovery, including CABG and TAVR. Familiarity
with myocardial infarction pharmacology and titratable
cardiac/vasoactive medications such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro,
Levo, and Dopamine. Closely monitor cardiac rhythms, and manage
chest tubes. Knowledge of TNK administration is preferred. Support
on the unit includes: CNA support with a ratio of 1:5-8 depending
on the shift. Charge nurses available but unassigned. Phlebotomy
services for peripheral blood draws. Resource nurses available on
occasion. Tele techs oversee cardiac monitoring, with RN
confirmation of strips. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. A
hospitalist is present within the facility 24/7 but not dedicated
to the unit. The charting system utilized is Epic; experience with
Epic is advantageous. Floating may occur primarily to a sister unit
as needed. Possible floating to other areas within scope of
practice may occur. Weekend rotation is required every other
weekend. No call coverage is necessary. Holiday expectations
include working every other holiday. Time-off requests can be
approved for up to 7 days, extensions required for full weeks off.
No time off is allowed during the first three weeks of August.
