in advanced endoscopic procedures, including EUS, EBUS, ERCP -
Comfortability in performing advanced interventional GI procedures
- Ability to assist in pre and post recovery phases with some ICU
level care Description: The unit has 4 endoscopy rooms, 20 pre-op
bays, and 14 PACU bays. The patient types include upper and lower
endoscopy procedures. This includes advanced endoscopic ultrasound,
endobronchial ultrasound, and ERCP. The pre and post recovery
includes phase I and phase II recovery. The nursing ratio in the
endoscopy unit is 1:1. For the pre-op area, the ratio is 1:2. In
PACU phase I, the ratio can be 1:1 or 1:2, depending on acuity. In
PACU phase II, the ratio ranges from 1:2 to 1:3. Anesthesia
provides sedation for procedures. The support on the unit includes
six RNs and endoscopy technicians. Charting systems used include
EPIC. Floating may occur as needed to pre-op or PACU. Nurses will
be on call one overnight shift per week and every third weekend.
Response time for calls is expected to be within 15 minutes.
Weekend rotation is every third weekend. Holiday expectations
include working two out of four major holidays. Time off requests
