Registered Nurse (RN) | Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care Location: Rapid City, SD Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,178 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/2/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience excluding travel experience preferred. Must have prior travel assignment. License: Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC Must-Have: Epic experience Comfortable working a 48-hour/week contract Experience with complex ICU patients, including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma patients Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry Strong critical thinking and assessment skills Ability to work well in a team setting and in a fast-paced environment Description: This is a mixed ICU unit with 39 beds. Patient types include complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro, and trauma. Diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac catheterization, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma. Cardiac experience is preferred, especially CABG/TAVR 24 to 48 hours post-operative. Fresh open heart patients will not be accepted unless the candidate has significant experience and the facility is comfortable with the decision. Patient ratios are RN: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 depending on acuity. CNA support includes 1-2 Nurse Aides per unit plus a mobility float aide. Charge nurse is supported by 2 CRNs overseeing all ICUs. Physician support includes 3 Intensivists on days and 2 on nights, along with an APP on nights. Charting system is Epic, which is required for this unit. Floating is uncommon unless overstaffed and may occur to any adult floor including Medsurg/Tele with a 1:4 ratio. No on-call requirement exists, and no time off is allowed during holidays or special events. Holiday expectations include no requests for time off during specific peak periods.
