Simon’s internship program is designed to provide first-hand exposure to industry operations, as well as 1:1 mentorship and networking opportunities to students in order to supplement college educational programs in the areas of business, engineering, and construction management.  Students in the program have the opportunity to work in various administrative and operational areas, contribute to company goals through completion of focused project work, and apply concepts learned in the classroom to business operations . For the 2020 program, target start date for the IT Internship will be early March/April, on a part-time basis, with approximately 5-10 hours per week and transition for the summer to full-time. Position will be located in our North Region Office in Rapid City, SD and will require occasional field visits to other Simon locations. Summary : Under direct supervision, the IT Intern will be the first point of contact for end users and will provide remote and on-site technical support.  The IT Intern will be a part of a customer service oriented team responsible for provisioning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of end-user hardware, software, and business applications. A successful candidate will be able to interact with a diverse group of employees at all levels, manage multiple concurrent tasks, and effectively address and manage service requests, incidents, emergencies, and monitor their status through resolution while keeping internal users up to date with status. Responsibilities : As part of the internship program, the IT intern will gain exposure to multiple areas of business technology, networking, and computer systems, including, but not limited to: •    Assist with first line response for users requesting assistance with information technology and related issues •    Utilize remote assistance tools to assist remote users •    Install, configure, troubleshoot and repair workstations, smartphones, software, networks and business systems •    Provide end-user training for specialized software •    Complete tasks required for Simon internship program •    Additional projects as assigned Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience: •    Pursuing an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field •    Previous experience in an IT support role is highly desired •    Knowledge of Windows 7 and Windows 10 Operating Systems •    Previous experience with Office 365 •    Knowledge of Power BI •    Knowledge and experience with Ticketing/IT Service Management systems •    Comfortable interacting with end users at all levels •    Excellent customer service skills and a genuine desire to help people •    Ability to learn and act in a faced paced environment •    Ability to work independently and collaboratively •    Strong verbal and written communication skills •    Strong sense of urgency and accountability •    Well organized to handle multiple tasks, requests, and assignments •    Valid Driver’s License and clean driving history preferred Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: •    Regularly required to use hands to manipulate objects such as paperwork and office tools/equipment •    Frequently required to sit or stand for long periods working on a computer or equipment •    Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl •    Frequently required to communicate professionally in-person, over the phone, and via e-mail •    Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance •    Travel (up to 50%) with overnight stays away from home may be required to visit job sites and/or attend meetings •    Required to wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines when visiting job sites Workplace Values Requirements: •    Support, promote, and practice Simon core values, vision, and mission •    Support, promote, and comply with Simon Code of Ethics, Workplace Conduct, Safety, and other established policies at all times •    Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams •    Align personal vision and goals with larger goals of the Company •    Support continuous improvement to improve Simon processes, performance, safety, and overall success The information contained herein is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of the job, nor are they intended to be an all-inclusive list of the skills and abilities required to do the job.
