seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/HVU position in Rapid City, SD,
requiring at least 1 year of PCU-specific experience and a SD or
Compact RN license. Details - 44-bed Heart/Vascular Unit (HVU)
operating as a mixed-acuity unit covering Intermediate Care,
Telemetry, and Med-Surg patient populations - Patient types include
direct admits, ED admits, post-cath lab, MI/NSTEMI/STEMI, CHF,
dysrhythmia management, pacemaker malfunction, epicardial pacers,
backup stroke patients, and medical overflow - Step-down level care
for post-cardiac/vascular, post-cardiac cath, post-open heart
surgery, post-TAVR, post-EP studies, and post-pacemaker insertion
patients - RN-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4, with the
possibility of 1:3 depending on acuity - CNA support with a ratio
of 1:5–8 depending on shift; unassigned charge nurse available -
Phlebotomy services available for peripheral blood draws; no IV/VAT
team on unit - Telemetry tech oversees cardiac monitoring; RN
confirms strips at 6a and 6p - Respiratory therapy available 24/7;
hospitalist in-facility 24/7 (not unit-dedicated) - Charting via
Epic; Alaris pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing used on the
unit - 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week - Every-other-weekend
rotation required - No on-call responsibilities - Floating may
occur to the sister General PCU unit, as well as to MS/Tele or ICU
to care for PCU-level patients, within scope of practice
Requirements - Active SD or Compact RN license required - Current
certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) -
Minimum 1.5 years of general nursing experience, with at least 1
year specific to PCU - Completion of a nursing education program
approved by a board of nursing - Experience with cardiac procedural
recovery (CABG, TAVR, post-cardiac cath) required - Proficiency
with MI pharmacology and titratable cardiac/vasoactive drips
(Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine) and Heparin drips
required - Cardiac rhythm interpretation and chest tube management
skills required - TNK administration experience preferred - Epic
EMR experience preferred - Two professional references dated within
the past year required for consideration - DOB and SSN required for
consideration Additional Information - Orientation consists of 2
partial days of general education followed by 3 × 12-hour shifts on
the unit - Holiday coverage expected on an every-other-holiday
rotation - RTO of up to 7 days is approvable; a full week off may
require a contract extension - No time off permitted during the
first three weeks of August annually (Sturgis Bike Rally period) -
Navy blue scrubs required - Free parking available on-site -
First-time travelers are considered only with 2 or more years of
nursing experience - Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from
any Monument Health facility to be eligible - Former permanent
staff must wait a full year before returning in a travel capacity
