Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a
mixed ICU position in Rapid City, SD, requiring a minimum of 2
years of ICU experience, Epic proficiency, and TNCC certification.
Details - Hospital-based mixed ICU setting with 39 beds, divided
into pods: MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU - Complex patient population
including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma diagnoses
such as ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical,
and multi-system trauma - Cardiac experience is preferred,
including CABG/TAVR 24–48 hrs post-op; fresh open heart cases are
assigned to permanent staff only - Patient ratios are 1:1, 1:2, or
1:3 (rare), based on acuity - Charting system: Epic (required);
Alaris pumps (transitioning to Baxter); Omnicell for medication
dispensing - 12-hour day shifts at 48 hours per week -
Every-other-weekend rotation (not guaranteed) - No on-call
requirements - Floating to adult floors, including Med/Surg and
Telemetry at a 1:4 ratio, is uncommon but possible if overstaffed
Requirements - Active RN license issued by or valid in South Dakota
(SD or Compact license required) - Current certifications: BLS,
ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (TNCC must be obtained prior to start) -
Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel experience, is
strongly preferred; candidates with at least 1.5 years of ICU
experience (excluding travel) plus significant non-ICU RN
experience may be considered - Epic EMR experience required -
Experience with IV medications including vasopressors, sedation,
and paralytics - Experience with hemodynamic lines, ventilator
management, proning, and telemetry monitoring - Experience with
Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred - Must reside at least
100 miles from any Monument Health facility - At least one prior
travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be
considered - Two professional references dated within the past year
are required for consideration - DOB and SSN required for
consideration Additional Information - Unit support includes 1–2
CNAs per unit plus a mobility float aide, 2 charge RNs overseeing
all ICUs, a resource nurse (staffing dependent), 24/7 respiratory
therapy, phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws, and intensivist/APP
physician coverage around the clock - ICU charge RNs place all
midlines; no dedicated IV/VAT team - Orientation consists of a
hospital orientation, one 12-hour shift, and one 8-hour shift on
the ICU - May be expected to precept nursing students - No RTO
during holidays or the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August
annually) - Up to 7 days of time off may be approved, with the
requirement to extend the contract to complete a full 13-week
assignment - Required scrub color: Navy - Free parking is available
on-site - Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning to this
