Registered Nurse (RN) | Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care Location: Rapid City, SD Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,163 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 14 Weeks Start Date: 4/20/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience excluding travel experience preferred. License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (REQUIRED) Must-Have: - Epic experience - Comfortability working a 48-hour/week contract Description: Clinical interview for a mixed ICU unit. This unit has 39 beds divided into different pods. Travelers must live 100 miles away from any facility. First-time travelers will not be accepted. Patients include complex surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases. Common diagnoses include ARDS, myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident, COVID-19, post-cardiac catheterization, and post-surgical recovery. Cardiac experience is preferred but not required. Fresh open heart cases will not be accepted unless the traveler is experienced. Patient ratios are dependent on acuity, typically 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3. Experience with IV medications, including vasopressors and sedatives, is required. Experience with hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry is necessary. Strong critical thinking and assessment skills in a fast-paced setting are essential. Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT is strongly preferred. Travelers should be prepared to discuss previous experiences and their impact on leadership expectations. Support on the unit includes nurse aides and charge nurses overseeing all ICUs. Charting system is Epic, and a switch to Baxter Pumps will occur by October. Floating to other adult floors may occur if overstaffed. Weekend rotations are attempted every other weekend but not guaranteed. No time off will be permitted during holidays or during the Sturgis Bike Rally in August.
