Registered Nurse (RN) | Emergency Room (ER) / Trauma Location: Rapid City, SD Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,163 per week Shift Information: Rotating - 5 days Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/30/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Variable Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience preferred. License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS required. Must-Have: Experience with all patient types in an emergency setting. Ability to perform ESI assessments during triage. Strong critical thinking and communication skills. Willingness to prioritize patient care needs. Description: This position involves providing care in a busy emergency department. The facility sees 150-180 patients daily. The emergency department is equipped with 33 beds, 8 trauma/resuscitation beds, and specialized behavioral health rooms. The patient population ranges from neonates to geriatric patients. Common cases include sepsis, DKA, respiratory illnesses, and GI bleeds. The department handles a heavy trauma load, particularly during summer months. As a Level 2 trauma center, it manages critical cases such as stab wounds, gunshot wounds, and serious falls. Travelers will participate in evidence collection for sexual assault cases, supported by a dedicated coordinator. The role involves caring for critically ill pediatric patients and managing cardiac conditions. Triage duties require assessing and prioritizing patients to determine the order of care. Registered nurses will have a patient ratio of 1:4-5, while licensed practical nurses will have a ratio of 1:4-5 as well. ED technicians will support the nurses with a ratio of 1:10. Nurses may float to inpatient areas as task nurses, but not take assignments outside of their areas. The emergency department operates with physician coverage 24/7. Nurses are expected to have experience using the EPIC charting system. Shifts include a variety of start times, and weekend work may be required based on staffing needs. Approved time off is subject to management approval. Precepting students may be part of the role. Navy scrubs are required.
