Registered Nurse (RN) | Psych Location: Rapid City, SD Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,161 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 4/13/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Psych Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Behavioral Health - Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year preferred License: Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing Certifications: BLS and CPI (preferred to have prior to start but can obtain on assignment) Must-Have: - Ability to perform physical restraint on an agitated patient if necessary. - Strong verbal de-escalation skills and good communication skills. Description: The facility accommodates patients with psychiatric diagnoses, including children/adolescents ages 5-17 and adults. Patient types include those with Depression, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Psychosis, and Adjustment Disorder. Occasionally, there may be violent or aggressive patients. The patient ratio is 1 RN to 8 patients, with a tech available for support. RNs will administer their own medications, evaluate care plans, note progress and documentation, conduct admission screens and assessments, perform minor wound care, record vital signs, and participate in discharge planning. LPNs will also pass medications, evaluate care plans, document progress, perform minor wound care, and record vital signs, while assessment-related tasks will need RN involvement. Support on the unit includes 24/7 security, panic alarms worn by staff, MD availability, a Behavioral Emergency Response Team, and psych technicians. Floating between units may occur based on staffing needs within the defined scope of practice. Blocked scheduling is not accommodated; the schedule will include variable shifts with weekend rotations expected. Holiday coverage may be required, with specific requests for time off managed through supervisors. Scrub color for staff is navy.
