ICU/Critical Care RN in Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701! Job Title:

Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS TNCC
(REQUIRED) Must-Have: Epic experience Comfortable working a
48-hour/week contract Experience with complex ICU patients
Description: This position is in a mixed ICU unit with 39 beds. The
unit includes medical, surgical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma
patients. Patient populations may include ARDS, myocardial
infarction, stroke/TIA, COVID-19, post-cardiac catheterization, and
multiple system trauma. Cardiac experience is preferred but not
required. Candidates must have the ability to manage patients who
are 24 to 48 hours post-op CABG/TAVR. Fresh open hearts will not be
accepted unless the candidate has specific experience and is deemed
competent. Patient ratios are typically 1:1 and may extend to 1:2
or 1:3 based on acuity. Experience with IV medications, including
vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics, is necessary. Candidates
should be skilled in hemodynamic line management, proning,
ventilator management, and telemetry. Strong critical thinking and
assessment skills are essential, along with the ability to work
collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with critically ill
patients. Additional preferred skills include experience with
Impella, IABP, and CRRT. Candidates may be asked to describe a
situation where they exceeded a leader’s expectations. There will
be 24/7 respiratory therapy support and 3 intensivists on days,
with additional coverage on nights. The charting system used is
Epic. Floating to other adult floors may occur, with a 1:4 patient
ratio in those settings. Weekend rotation is attempted every other
weekend but is not guaranteed. No time off will be approved during
holidays or special events. Candidates may be expected to precept
