Description: Hospital is a Level II Trauma Center and a Level III
NICU. It serves as a primary stroke and chest pain center. The
hospital employs 417 beds and includes 4 endoscopy rooms, 20 pre-op
bays, and 14 PACU bays. The patient types include upper and lower
endoscopy procedures, which encompass advanced EUS, EBUS, ERCP, as
well as PEG, gastroduodenoscopy, and colonoscopy. Patients are
received in pre-op and post-recovery phases, with some ICU level
care needed. Patient ratios are as follows: Endoscopy - 1:1 Pre-op
- 1:2 PACU Phase I - 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity PACU Phase II - 1:2
to 1:3 Anesthesia provides sedation. The support on the unit
includes several Endoscopy RNs and Endo Techs. The charting system
is EPIC and includes equipment such as an ION robot for
robotic-assisted bronchoscopy and Omnicell. Staff may be floated to
pre-op, PACU, or the floor if needed, but will not float to the
main operating room as the primary nurse. Scheduling includes a
weekend rotation every third weekend. There may be on-call duties
for one overnight shift per week and every third weekend. Overnight
response time is 15 minutes. Holiday expectations are 2 out of 4
major holidays. Approval for time off requires reaching out to
management. Volunteering for low census may occur without pay.
