Registered Nurse (RN) | Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care Location: Rapid City, SD Agency: Medical Edge Recruitment Pay: $81 per hour Contract Duration: 14 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: ICU Staff Nurse – Critical Care, 48-Hour Shifts Overview: Join our dynamic ICU team where your expertise will directly impact the care of complex, critically ill patients. We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses with a solid background in ICU settings to deliver top-tier care in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role offers an opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases, within a well-supported unit dedicated to excellence in critical care. Pay Package: $30 per hour with weekly stipend of $1,200 Shift: 12 hour Nights Required Skills: Minimum of 2 years ICU experience excluding travel assignments; 1.5 years ICU experience plus significant RN background outside ICU may be considered with management approval Proficiency in Epic EMR system Experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic lines, proning, IV medications (vasopressors, sedatives, paralytics), telemetry, and critical assessment skills Strong critical thinking, teamwork, and adaptability in a high-acuity environment Familiarity with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred Ability to comfortably work 48 hours per week on this demanding schedule Certification in BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (TNCC required; willingness to obtain prior to start) Critical care experience with complex ICU patients, including trauma, post-surgical, cardiac, and neuro cases Preferred Education and Experience: Graduation from an approved nursing program aligned with the South Dakota Board of Nursing requirements Experience with ICU float to ED and PCU float to ICU settings Prior exposure to high-acuity critical care environments and advanced life support technologies Other Requirements: Not accepting first-time travelers; minimum one prior travel assignment required No return as a traveler within one year of permanent employment at the facility Ability to describe a time when they exceeded a leader’s expectations during interview Willingness to precept students as needed Scrub color: Navy Free parking provided No on-call requirement; weekend rotation possible, approximately every other weekend No RTO during holidays or Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks in August) Orientation includes hospital and ICU-specific training, with at least one 12-hour and one 8-hour shift Other Notes: Support staff includes CNA/nurse aide team, resource nurse, and 24/7 RT coverage Charting in Epic; use of Alaris (will switch to Baxter Pumps by October), and Omnicell medication systems Floating to adult medical/surgical or tele units possible if staffing allows, with traveler approval during interview Why Choose Medical Edge?
