RN in Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701! Job Title: Registered Nurse
- ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13
Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2
years of ICU experience excluding travel experience preferred. If
1.5 years of ICU experience excluding travel, significant RN
experience outside of ICU will be considered with management
approval. License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS,
NIHSS, TNCC (required) Must-Have: Completion of a nursing education
program approved by a board of nursing. Experience with complex ICU
patients including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma
cases. Familiarity with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation,
paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and
telemetry. Strong critical thinking and assessment skills.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting with critical patients.
Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred. Epic
experience is required. Ability to work a 48-hour per week
contract. Description: The unit consists of a mixed population of
complex ICU patients. Patient diagnoses include ARDS, myocardial
infarction, stroke, COVID-19, post-cardiac catheterization,
post-surgical, and multiple system trauma. Patient ratios may vary
depending on acuity, typically ranging from 1:1 to 1:3. Cardiac
experience is preferred but not required. Fresh open heart patients
will only be assigned to experienced travelers. Assistance and
support on the unit include CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory
therapists, and intensivists. Resource nurses are available based
on staffing. Patient care includes peripheral blood draws conducted
by the nursing staff. Charting is done using Epic and Alaris, with
a transition to Baxter Pumps planned. Weekend rotation aims for
every other weekend but not guaranteed. There are no on-call
requirements or holiday expectations. Time-off requests are
approved up to 7 days and must extend to accommodate the full
contract duration. Specific periods of blackout for time off may
apply during certain high-traffic events. 5 Benefits of Travel
