Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Rapid City, SD Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,871 per week Shift Information: Days - 4 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/30/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701! Job Title: Registered Nurse - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year nursing experience License: Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Comfortable taking MedSurg assignments. EPIC experience required. Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips. Previous experience with IMC/stepdown and neuro patients. Comfort with line management, wound care, drain/tube management, and drip titration. Description: This position is in a clinical interview unit with 36-48 beds, including semi-private rooms as needed. The unit serves mixed patient types, including Med/Surg and intermediate care levels, as well as long length stay patients. The nurse will care for various acuity levels. Patient ratios include: Long length of stay MedSurg (no telemetry) - 1 nurse for 5-6 patients in a pod with 10-12 patients. Med Surg/Telemetry (no IMC drips) - 1 nurse for 5 patients in pods with 10-12 patients each. Intermediate Care - 1 nurse for 4 patients in a pod with 8 patients, including Med/Tele and IMC patients. Common diagnoses include: Diabetic ketoacidosis requiring insulin drips. Pre/post-surgical patients. Cellulitis, influenza, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, renal failure with or without hemodialysis, hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders and infections, soft tissue injuries, minor fractures, and deep vein thrombosis. The role involves administering a variety of oral, IV, IM, and SQ medications, titratable vasoactive drips, TPN/tube feedings, and blood product transfusions. This position includes managing peripheral IV, midline, PICC and central line access, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, drains, and urinary and fecal collection devices. The nurse will also provide preventative and restorative skin and wound care. Telemetry monitoring will be required, with nurses reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms. Support on the unit includes a CNA with a ratio of 1:8 and a charge nurse who does not take a patient load. Phlebotomy services are available. The nurse may float to any adult inpatient unit, including Med Surg, orthopedics, neurology, surgical, heart and vascular, oncology, and observation as needed. Scheduling is done in 6-week increments. Travelers could be scheduled for up to 4 out of 6 weekends, which include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Requests for time off during holidays are not currently accepted; holiday requests must be approved by management. Audits are conducted monthly for pre/post pain scoring, with a requirement of 90% compliance.
