Registered Nurse (RN) | Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Location: Rapid City, SD Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $3,318 per week Shift Information: 4 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/2/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - NICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Variable Hours per Shift: 48 guaranteed Experience: Minimum 1.5 years required, 2 years for first-time travelers License: Registered Nurse (RN) - state board of nursing Certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS; STABLE preferred Must-Have: Vent management IV starts Chest tubes IV medication titration Experience with neonatal resuscitation preferred Description: This unit has 28 beds with an average census of 13-16 patients. Neonates of all gestational ages are cared for in a Level 3 NICU. Patient diagnoses include low birth weight, high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, total body cooling, and feeders/growers. There is no ECMO or cardiac surgery performed at this time. Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:4 for registered nurses. Support includes a CNA with a ratio of 1:10, and a charge nurse for every 25 staff who will attend deliveries. Phlebotomy services are provided by RNs. An IV/VAT team is available with respiratory therapy on staff. There are three neonatologists and ten neonatal nurse practitioners providing 24/7 coverage. A transport team is available 24/7, transferring out for surgery as there is no dedicated pediatric surgical team. Lactation consultants are also part of the support team. The charting system in use is EPIC. Scrub color is navy blue. Travelers must live over 100 miles from the facility. Permanent staff must wait one full year to return as a traveler. Flexible scheduling may allow for 36 or 48-hour contracts. There is no weekend rotation, but travelers may work mostly weekends. Travelers may be placed on call only for low census situations. Holiday expectations require availability for two out of four major holidays. Time-off requests must be pre-approved by management.
