a qualified Mother Baby RN in Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701! Job
Title: Registered Nurse - Post Partum Profession: Registered Nurse
Specialty: Mother Baby Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Variable
Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years in Labor and Delivery or
Postpartum/GYN License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, NRP
Must-Have: Experience in couplet care and postpartum nursing
Description: We have 10 Labor and Delivery beds, 4 OB Emergency
Department triage beds, and 4 Antepartum rooms. There are 20
Mother/Baby beds available. We encourage parents to room in and
provide couplet care. Candidates should have experience in
postpartum and newborn nursery care. We see all types of pregnant
patients, including high-risk patients. We have the only Level 3
NICU in a 350-mile radius, accepting patients with various risk
factors and complications. Care provided includes antepartum, OB
triage, postpartum, and newborn care, primarily focused on
postpartum patients. Complications we manage include pre-eclampsia,
hypertension, and magnesium sulfate infusions. We occasionally care
for simple post-surgical or gynecological patients. The expected
nurse-patient ratios are as follows: Antepartum: 1:3 Inactive
Labor: 1:2 Active Labor: 1:1 Postpartum/Couplet care: generally,
1:3 couplets, with the flexibility to care for a NICU mom if needed
at a 1:4 ratio. NICU feeder/grower groups: 1:3 Pediatrics: up to
1:5 Required skills include: Administration of IVs and phlebotomy.
Management of magnesium sulfate and blood administration. Insulin
drips management. Circulating C-sections and C-section recovery
care. Candidates should be capable of conducting cervical checks.
Experience with Level 2 nursery babies such as 24-hour testing,
bilirubin management, NAS scoring, and late preterm care is
preferred. All candidates must be willing to float to other units
as needed, including Labor and Delivery, NICU, Pediatrics, and
PICU. Shift times are 12-hour shifts with variable hours, including
both night and day shifts throughout the contract. Weekend rotation
will be every other weekend. Holidays may be required based on
staffing needs. Scrubs are navy blue. Patient ratios will vary
