Job Title: Registered Nurse - Telemetry Profession: Registered
Nurse Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights
Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: RN
Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Telemetry RN skills IV skills
Central line management Ability to manage cardiac drips with
titration Comfort with nebulizer treatments and high flow oxygen
Ability to mix medication via video conference with pharmacy
Description: ASAP start is required. There are 12 beds available,
which include single and double occupancy. Travelers with one year
of experience are accepted. First-time travelers are also welcome.
Travelers must live more than 100 miles away from the facility.
Permanent staff must wait one full year to return as travelers.
Patient types include medical and transitional (swing bed). Common
diagnoses include pneumonia, COVID-19, long-term antibiotic
therapy, endocarditis, comfort care, alcohol withdrawal,
hyponatremia, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease, and atrial fibrillation. Patient ratios are 1 RN
to 5-6 patients, depending on acuity. Required certifications for
RNs include BLS and ACLS. Skills required for RNs include telemetry
and IV management. LPNs need IV start/management skills and the
ability to administer nebulizer treatments. Support on the unit
includes one tech per shift. There is a charge nurse on duty.
Phlebotomy is available. An IV/VAT team is not applicable. There is
no resource nurse. A hospitalist is not assigned. Wound care
nursing support is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Charting is done using EPIC. Floating is permitted; RNs may help in
the emergency room as needed. LPNs may float as a second nurse to
the emergency department if needed. Weekend rotation is required
every other weekend. On-call requirements are applicable during
specific events. Holiday expectations include working every other
holiday. Approval for time off will be discussed during the
