with Cynet Health to find a qualified PICU RN in Rapid City, South
Dakota, 57701! Job Title: Registered Nurse - PICU Profession:
Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12
Hour Variable Hours per Shift: 48 Experience: 1.5 years of PICU RN
experience required License: Registered Nurse - South Dakota Board
of Nursing Certifications: BLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: Completion
of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing
Proficient use of EPIC charting system Ability to titrate drips and
care for mechanically ventilated patients Strong skills in physical
assessment of patients of all ages Ability to evaluate patient
symptoms and associated vital signs Experience in administering
medications as prescribed Capable of educating patients and
families on the plan of care Description: 15 bed Pediatric Unit; 5
Bed PICU Will work through both General Pediatrics and PICU Patient
ages range from 0-18 years and may include adult overflow Common
diagnoses include respiratory illness, diabetes, septicemia,
cellulitis, hyperbilirubinemia, neglect/abuse, mental health
issues, trauma, neurology, and general surgeries General surgeries
may include ear/nose/throat, gastrointestinal, urological,
orthopedics, neurosurgery, and trauma PICU patients require
critical or intensive care services Common conditions in the
Advanced Care Pediatrics Unit include acute and chronic respiratory
insufficiency, circulatory failure, infectious diseases, endocrine
and metabolic disorders, neurologic diseases, toxic
ingestions/exposures, trauma, and hematologic and oncologic
diseases Patient ratios: RN General Pediatrics - 1:5, PICU: 1:1-2
CNA to RN ratio is 1:5 Charge nurse coverage for both units
Phlebotomy performed by RNs and Nurse Aids RNs start their own IVs
with ultrasound assistance for difficult cases Support available
includes Nurse Clinician/Nurse Educator and Case Management
Pediatric Pharmacy and Pediatric Social Work available on-site
Weekend rotation: every other weekend Holiday expectations: all
staff expected to work holidays Time off must be pre-approved Work
