Job Description:
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery Profession:
Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum years
of experience required - no less than 1 year in Labor and Delivery
for travelers with specific experience. First-time travelers are
welcomed with Labor and Delivery experience. License: Registered
Nurse (RN) - must be licensed in the state. Certifications: BLS,
ACLS, NRP Must-Have: Completion of a nursing education program
approved by a board of nursing. Experience in Electronic Fetal
Monitoring (EFM) interpretation and intervention. Adult and
neonatal assessment skills. Description: The unit has a total of 8
beds. Travelers should reside more than 100 miles away from the
facility. Permanent staff must wait one full year to return as
travelers. Patient types include Labor and Delivery, postpartum,
antepartum, newborns, and infants under 28 days old. The Level 2A
Nursery will care for sick babies. Gyn-surgical and mastectomy
post-operative experience is preferred, but other staff may cover
if necessary. Patient ratios are 1:2 for laboring and 1:3-4 for
couplets. There is no dedicated CNA for Labor and Delivery;
however, facility-wide coverage is available 24/7. One charge nurse
covers all units in the hospital. Laboratory services are available
24/7. There is no IV/VAT team; floating may occur within the scope
of practice. Charting is conducted using an Epic system. Floating
may be required to assist in med-surg roles as needed. Weekend
rotation includes every other weekend. If on-call is required, it
will be determined based on census and rotation. Holiday
expectations include scheduling three holidays and being on call
for one, rotating as needed. Approval of time off is subject to
specific conditions. Scrubs will be provided by the facility.
