Job Description:
Job Title: Registered Nurse - PACU Profession: Registered Nurse
Specialty: PreOp-PACU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Hours per
Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1.5 years of experience
required License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS,
ACLS, PALS Must-Have: - Critical Care experience and competencies
including hemodynamic drips and ventilated patients. - Comfort with
PreOp, Recovery, and Discharge of patients. - Ability to manage
boarded patients if the hospital census is full. - Competence in IV
insertion, ventilator training, epidural/PCA setup/initiation,
blood product transfusions, and monitoring moderate sedation.
Description: The role involves caring for a diverse patient
population, including infants and geriatric patients. It requires
preparation and recovery of patients undergoing Endo procedures,
though specific intra-operative duties are not included. The unit
features a total of 24 Pre-Op/Phase 2 beds and 19 PACU beds.
Patient ratios will vary based on acuity levels, airway presence,
age, comorbidities, and specific monitoring needs. Registered
Nurses will work alongside nurse aides during daytime hours.
Resource and hospitalist teams are available to support care needs.
The role involves floating to various departments as needed within
the scope of practice. Nurses are responsible for drawing their own
labs and have access to additional assistance if required.
Schedules will vary, with possible weekend rotations and on-call
responsibilities every 2-3 weeks. Holidays will rotate among staff,
with an expectation of working two holidays per year. Time off
requests are subject to manager approval, with restrictions during
specific peak periods.
