Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Progressive Care or Telemetry
nursing License: Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: BLS, ACLS
preferred Must-Have: Telemetry experience Ability to interpret
cardiac rhythms Experience in IV starts and blood product
administration Ability to perform CIWA assessments Drain and tube
management experience Indwelling and straight catheter insertion
and management Continuous bladder irrigation Chest tube maintenance
Strong clinical judgment and professional bedside manner Effective
verbal and written communication skills Team player with a positive
attitude and adaptability Description: The Progressive Care Unit
has a total of 56 beds. Patients include adults with a variety of
diagnoses such as CHF, ARF, hepatitis, ESLD, DM, DKA, pneumonia,
sepsis, GI bleed, syncope, chest pain, pulmonary emboli,
respiratory failure, COPD, arrhythmias, seizure disorders,
overdose, and delirium tremors. Caregiver to patient ratios are 1:4
for PCU/Telemetry and 1:5 for Med/Surg during both day and night
shifts. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) will work at a ratio of
1:8. Staffing model will involve pairing of RN and LPN, with shared
patient loads and possible task swapping based on scope of
practice. Support on the unit includes a charge nurse available
24/7, phlebotomy services, resource nurses, and a hospitalist team
providing continuous coverage. Orientation involves two days of
in-class/online education and two shifts with a preceptor for
hands-on guidance. Weekend rotations require either every other
weekend or 50% weekends as part of the 4-week schedule. Holiday
expectations include working every other holiday or as required
during the contracted period. Approval for time off allows for up
to 7 days, with the need to extend contracts if unable to fulfill a
full week during that time. Monthly audits will be conducted to
ensure compliance with pain score assessments. Scrub colors are
designated by role, with navy blue for RNs and cement/light grey
