qualified PACU/Pre-Post Op RN in Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701!
Pay Information $2,314 per week About The Position Job Title:
Registered Nurse - PACU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty:
PreOp-PACU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Hours per Shift: 12
Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years of nursing experience required.
License: Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
Must-Have: Critical care experience and competencies with ICU
cases, including hemodynamic drips and ventilated patients. Comfort
and proficiency in preoperative, recovery, and discharge processes.
Ability to care for boarded patients if hospital capacity is full.
Competencies in IV insertion, ventilator training, epidural/PCA
setup/initiation, blood product transfusions, and moderate sedation
administration and monitoring. Description: The position requires a
nurse to work in a unit that accommodates a diverse patient
population, including infants and geriatrics. Nurses are expected
to provide care for ambulatory/elective and acute care/trauma
patients. Patient ratios are 1:2-3 in Pre-Op, 1:1 or 1:2 in PACU,
and 1:2-4 in Phase 2, with variations based on patient acuity,
airway presence, and comorbidities. Staffing support includes
certified nursing assistants and charge nurses available during
shifts. All nurses are trained in IV insertion, and additional
support is available from resource teams as needed. Nurses may be
floated between various departments based on staffing needs.
General facility orientation and department-specific training will
take place. Weekend call rotations and holiday shifts are part of
the job requirements. Time off requests must be approved by
management, with specific blackout periods identified. The
environment emphasizes teamwork and collaborative patient care.
