Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years Labor and Delivery experience preferred License: Required Certifications: BLS, NRP preferred; ACLS, certification in inpatient obstetrics, electronic fetal monitoring, or inpatient antepartum is a plus Must-Have: - Experience in caring for couplets - Level 2 nursery baby experience is preferred - Skills in IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate administration, blood administration, insulin administration, circulation of C-sections, and C-section recovery care Description: This role involves caring for a variety of pregnant patients, ranging from high-risk to low-intervention laboring patients. The facility features 10 labor and delivery beds, 4 OB triage beds, and 4 antepartum rooms. Patient ratios are as follows: Antepartum 1:3, Inactive Labor 1:2, Active Labor 1:1, and Postpartum/Couplet care 1:3. The unit is supported by a unit secretary, scrub tech, charge nurse, and a dedicated physician and anesthesia team available 24/7. Orientation consists of 4 days with a preceptor, including 3 days in Labor and Delivery and 1 day in Postpartum/Couplet care. The candidate will be required to work in both Labor and Delivery and Postpartum/Couplet care throughout the contract. Weekend rotation will be every other weekend, with holiday work as needed. Candidates should be prepared for variable shifts, which may include both nights and days.
