qualified PCU RN in Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701! Pay
Information $3,003 per week About The Position Job Title:
Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Ortho Neuro
Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift:
12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
License: Registered Nurse - Board of Nursing approved
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: One year of
Intermediate/Stepdown Level RN experience. EPIC experience for
first-time travelers. Comfortability to take MedSurg assignments.
Post neuro-intervention experience preferred but education and
resources are provided by the unit. Description: This is a mixed
acuity unit with Intermediate Care, Tele, and MedSurg patients.
Patient types include surgical cases such as urology,
prostatectomy, bowel obstruction, mass removal, cholecystectomy,
and general abdominal surgeries. Ortho procedures include total
joints (knees, hips, shoulders) and ortho trauma cases. Neuro and
spine procedures involve management of CVA, TIA, brain tumors, and
spinal surgical cases. General medicine includes conditions such as
cellulitis, influenza, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, and renal
failure. Wound care and wound debridement are also part of the
responsibilities. The patient ratio is 1:4 and CNA 1:8. Experience
in reading and interpreting cardiac strips, performing trach care,
and managing various lines and devices is required. Skills in
medication administration, blood product transfusions, and wound
care are necessary. Drip titration for specific medications will be
part of the responsibilities, with training available for those
unfamiliar. Support on the unit includes a pod structure with a
team of RNs and Nurse Aides. Orientation consists of unit policies
and online learning, followed by shifts with a preceptor.
Scheduling includes weekend rotations, and there are holiday
expectations to consider. No mandatory call time exists, and staff
may be scheduled on weekends. Requests for time off must be made
before acceptance of the contract. Blackout dates are in place
during specific events, and no time off will be approved during
this period. Scrub color is navy blue. Compliance audits for pain
