Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years of general nursing experience
License: Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing Certifications:
BLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: Completion of a nursing education
program that is approved by a board of nursing. Ability to perform
physical assessments of patients ages 0 to adult. Experience with
patient education on the plan of care. Proficient use of electronic
health record systems. PICU experience including the ability to
titrate drips and care for mechanically ventilated patients.
Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing
in pediatrics. The unit consists of a 15-bed pediatric area and a
5-bed PICU. Patient types include pediatric patients aged 0-18 and
stable adult overflow. Common diagnoses encompass respiratory
illnesses, diabetes, septicemia, and trauma. Nurses will provide
care for various service needs ranging from general medical to
advanced care pediatrics. The nurse-to-patient ratio for general
pediatrics is 1:5. For advanced care pediatrics, the ratio is
1:1-2. Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurses, and nursing
educators. Nurses start their own IVs, draw labs, and have access
to ultrasound for challenging IV placements. Orientation consists
of one day of facility training and two days of unit training with
a preceptor. Weekend rotations are mandatory, occurring every other
weekend. Holiday work may be required, with time-off requests
subject to pre-approval. The workplace culture emphasizes a
