Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 26 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 48 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience preferred. License: Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC Must-Have: - Epic experience - Comfortability working a 48-hour/week contract - Experience with complex ICU patients Description: This position is for a mixed ICU unit. The unit consists of a 39-bed capacity, including MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU patients. Patient types include complex surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases. Common diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac catheterization, post-surgical, and multiple-system trauma. Cardiac experience, particularly with CABG/TAVR, is preferred. Travelers must not have any current affiliation with the facility. The ideal candidate will have significant RN experience outside of ICU if less than 2 years of ICU experience is present. Patient ratios are typically 1:1, 1:2, and occasionally 1:3, depending on acuity. The required skills include the use of IV medications, hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, and strong critical thinking and assessment abilities. Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT is strongly preferred. Support on the unit includes 1-2 nurse aides and charge nurses overseeing all ICUs. Phlebotomy and IV/VAT Team support are available. Orientation consists of hospital orientation and additional ICU-specific training. A weekend rotation is expected every other week, with no holiday time off. Requests for time off must be submitted in advance, with limits on peak activity periods.
