TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PACU/Pre-Post Op RN in Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701! Pay Information $2,308 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - PACU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PreOp-PACU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1.5 years of experience required License: Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Critical Care experience and competencies with ICU cases, including hemodynamic drips and ventilated patients. Comfortable with PreOp, Recovery, and Discharge of patients. Able to accommodate boarded patients if hospital census is full. Description: The facility has a total of 24 Pre-Op/Phase 2 beds and 19 PACU beds. The patient population includes infants to geriatrics, although recovering infants is rare. PreOp procedures will involve prepping and discharging Endo patients, but intra-operative work is not required. The patient ratios are RN: Pre-Op 1:2-3, PACU 1:1 or 1:2, and Phase 2 1:2-4, depending on acuity levels and patient needs. Nursing support includes 6 nurse aides during daytime hours, with various staffing throughout the units. Charge nurse coverage is provided for PreOp, PACU, and Endo units during key hours. Nurses will draw their own labs but can call for lab assistance when necessary. All nurses are trained in IV insertion, with additional support available from a dedicated team for complex procedures. The facility has a team of hospitalists available for inpatient care and a respiratory therapy team as needed. Charting will be done using the EPIC system, and prior experience with this system is beneficial. Floating may occur between PreOp, PACU, Endo, and Phase 2 units based on needs. Orientation includes a week of general facility training and unit-specific education. Work schedules will depend on staffing needs and may vary by week. Weekend call responsibilities are shared among staff, requiring rotation every four weeks. Holiday shifts will also rotate among team members, with two holidays required during the year. Time off approvals are managed by the department manager, with restrictions in place during peak times.
