Job Description:
Waste Connections is seeking a skilled Preventative Maintenance
Mechanic to join our team in the Engineering & Maintenance
department. In this vital role, you will be responsible for
maintaining and servicing our fleet and equipment to ensure smooth
and safe operations. Our preventative maintenance program is
crucial for reducing downtime and extending the lifespan of
equipment critical to our operations in residential, commercial,
and industrial waste management services. This position offers the
opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a committed team
dedicated to environmental sustainability and community service.
Conduct regular maintenance checks and routine inspections on
vehicles and equipment. Identify mechanical issues and repair
faults in machines and equipment to prevent breakdowns. Keep
accurate records of maintenance work and scheduled checks.
Collaborate with the operations team to schedule maintenance and
minimize operational disruptions. Ensure compliance with safety,
health, and environmental regulations. Update and maintain vehicle
servicing and replacement schedules. Order parts and maintain stock
inventory to manage costs and reduce waste. Strong mechanical
aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in using tools and
diagnostic equipment for mechanical repairs. Ability to read and
interpret technical manuals and schematics. Effective communication
and organizational skills. Experience with hydraulic and electrical
systems is preferred. Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision
Insurance Life Insurance 401k ASE Certification (Automotive Service
Excellence) is preferred. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is
beneficial.
