Job Description:
As a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic at Waste Connections, you
will play a vital role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability
of our waste management equipment and vehicles. Leveraging your
mechanical expertise, youll help maintain our fleet, contributing
to the sustainability and effectiveness of our services. The role
demands a detail-oriented approach to prevent downtime and maximize
operational performance in our commitment to excellent customer
service and environmental stewardship. Perform routine preventive
maintenance checks on all waste management equipment including
vehicles, compactors, and balers to ensure smooth operation.
Diagnose and repair minor and major mechanical issues to prevent
breakdowns and extend the lifespan of equipment. Maintain accurate
records of all maintenance work performed and parts used. Support
compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations
in maintenance practices. Collaborate with other team members and
departments to optimize maintenance procedures and minimize
operational disruptions. Respond to emergency repair requests and
prioritize tasks effectively to maximize efficiency. In-depth
knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
maintenance. Proficiency with mechanical tools and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Effective
communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work
independently with minimal supervision. Medical Insurance Dental
Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Valid driver’s
license. Certification from a recognized authority such as ASE
(Automotive Service Excellence) in diesel mechanics or hydraulic
systems is a plus. OSHA Safety Certification can be an asset.
